The New Orleans Legal Recruiting Association originally began as a small group of law firm recruiters and career services professionals in the New Orleans area. This group met informally throughout the year to discuss various topics including the recruiting market, professional development, and student counseling, and to foster a professional network.

In 2010, Kristen Koppel, Legal Recruiting Manager at Adams and Reese LLP, suggested that the group formally organize in order to meet more regularly, offer formal educational opportunities and have a platform from which to reach out to the many other recruiting professionals in the area. On March 15, 2010, NOLRA held its very first formal board of directors meeting.

In this, its inaugural year, NOLRA has been proud to present two educational luncheons held free of charge to recruiting professionals in an effort to introduce NOLRA to the city. Response has been very positive, and we are looking forward to 2011, when we will begin accepting dues so that we may apply for official 501(c)6 status as a non-profit organization for business purposes and continue to offer high-quality programming to our members.
